Immersive 270-Degree Viewing Expands in Sydney

HOYTS Cinemas will introduce the SCREENX panoramic experience at its Broadway location, further enhancing its cinematic offerings in Sydney. The announcement was made on 15th June 2026.n

SCREENX, the world’s first multi-projection cinema technology, provides a 270-degree viewing experience by extending key scenes onto the side walls of the auditorium. This innovation aims to immerse audiences more deeply into the movie.n

Damian Keogh, CEO and President of HOYTS Group, explained that expanding SCREENX to Broadway aligns with the venue’s status as a leading entertainment destination. He said, “The strong performance of SCREENX at our existing locations demonstrates the growing demand for premium, innovative cinema experiences.”n

Innovative Technology and Audience Demandn

Don Savant, Chief Business Officer & Chief Marketing Officer of CJ 4DPLEX, emphasised that the technology uses advanced multi-projection and immersive surround sound to enhance the cinematic experience. “As the cinema industry continues to evolve, moviegoers are increasingly seeking premium entertainment experiences,” Savant remarked.n

With more than 370 SCREENX auditoriums operating globally, this expansion marks HOYTS’ continued commitment to offering diverse and engaging cinema experiences. The Broadway location will join the existing SCREENX theatres at HOYTS Blacktown and HOYTS Melbourne Central.n

Audiences can expect the new SCREENX experience to be available in time for several highly anticipated blockbuster releases later this year, promising an enhanced moviegoing experience.n

HOYTS Broadway’s location as a premier inner-city shopping and entertainment hub makes it an ideal candidate for this expansion. The immersive experience is expected to attract moviegoers seeking something beyond the conventional cinema.n

CJ 4DPLEX is proud to continue its partnership with HOYTS, bringing cutting-edge cinema technology to audiences across Australia. This collaboration highlights the evolving nature of the cinema industry and the increasing demand for unique viewing experiences.n

The new SCREENX auditorium builds on the success of previous installations at HOYTS Blacktown and HOYTS Melbourne Central. As a result, the expansion to Broadway is seen as the next logical step in offering premium cinematic experiences.n

According to industry reports, the demand for innovative movie experiences is rising, driven by audiences’ desire for more immersive storytelling. SCREENX delivers this through its unique 270-degree visuals that extend beyond the traditional screen.
