Melbourne Memory Walk & Jog to Support Dementia

Event to Raise Funds and Awareness

Scheduled for 17th May at Albert Park, the Melbourne Memory Walk & Jog aims to support Dementia Australia through community participation and fundraising.

As the largest annual fundraising initiative of Dementia Australia, Memory Walk & Jog encourages communities to get active and support Australians living with dementia. Victoria is home to more than 113,900 people with dementia, underscoring the importance of these initiatives.

Currently, dementia ranks as the leading cause of death in Australia. Projections suggest that by 2065, the number of Australians living with the condition could rise to over one million. In 2026, 14 Memory Walk & Jog events are scheduled nationwide.

MCs Tully Smyth and Takaya Honda will host the event. People of all ages and abilities can participate in walking, jogging, or running. The day offers a platform to connect with others, share experiences, and raise essential funds for Dementia Australia.

Funds raised at the Melbourne Memory Walk & Jog will aid Dementia Australia in delivering support services, expanding programs, and driving research efforts. These initiatives aim to improve the quality of life for those affected by dementia and their carers.

Participants can sign up to take part or volunteer by visiting the official event page at memorywalk.com.au/melbourne. Those unable to attend can organise their own MyWay event, choosing a date and location that suits them.

Dementia Australia advocates for positive change and supports vital research. The organisation is committed to supporting people impacted by dementia, enabling them to live as well as possible. If you need support, contact the National Dementia Helpline at 1800 100 500, a service funded by the Australian Government.

In 2026, more than 446,500 Australians are living with dementia, and over 1.7 million people are involved in their care. As these numbers grow, raising funds and encouraging everyone to get active for their brain health becomes crucial.

For those who cannot attend the Memory Walk & Jog, organizing a group or individual walk or jog through a MyWay event is an option. Participants can choose their own date and location and register at www.memorywalk.com.au/get-involved/mw.
