Kiama Council Considers Proposal for Holiday Parks
Reflections Holidays, the largest holiday park operator in New South Wales, is exploring a strategic partnership with Kiama Council. This follows the council’s decision to consider a proposal involving its holiday parks portfolio.
Reflections Holidays, a certified social enterprise and Category One Crown Land manager, submitted the proposal on April 17. By April 21, Kiama Council had approved a motion to conduct due diligence on the proposal.
Nick Baker, CEO of Reflections Holidays, expressed excitement about the partnership potential, describing Kiama as “one of the most beautiful tourist destinations in the State.”
Enhancements for Kiama’s Tourism
Reflections manages 40 holiday parks and 47 community reserves across New South Wales. The company reinvests profits into park improvements, aiming to boost local tourism and economies. Kiama’s strategic location near Sydney enhances its appeal, being close to other Reflections sites like Bermagui, Eden, and Pambula.
Reflections Holidays is unique in its approach, reinvesting profits back into its parks. This method aims to enhance local tourism and economies. Baker cited their success at the Tumut holiday park as proof of their impact. A $1 million investment in upgrades attracted 2,732 visitors and increased local tourist revenue by 23% over six months.
Kiama Council Mayor Cameron McDonald stated, “This is an exciting proposal that has emerged.” He emphasised Reflections Holidays’ proven track record of investment and its potential to boost local tourism and the economy.
The council is proceeding with its due diligence process to assess the potential benefits and impacts of the proposed partnership on the community and local economy.
Reflections Holidays’ mantra, ‘life’s better outside,’ aligns with Kiama’s natural attractions. The partnership aims to enhance the local tourism economy and strengthen community ties.
