Wavegarden's Third Installation in Eastern Australia
Surf Farm, located at the Glass House Mountains on Queensland's Sunshine Coast, has announced Wavegarden as its official surf technology partner for its upcoming surf and lifestyle destination.
The new facility will feature a Wavegarden Cove lagoon equipped with 62 modules, making it the most advanced installation on Australia's east coast. This configuration will offer the largest range of programmable wave settings in the southern hemisphere.
Joel Parkinson, a former World Surf Champion and Surf Farm team member, highlighted the partnership's impact, stating, "Surf Farm is about creating something truly special for surfers and the wider community. The Wavegarden Cove technology delivers incredibly high-quality, repeatable waves."
The selection of Wavegarden marks its third installation on the east coast of Australia, and the first in Queensland. This choice strengthens the Sunshine Coast's reputation as a centre of surf culture and innovation.
Surf Farm is led by a highly experienced team, including UrbnSurf founding investors Adam Lamond and Chris Salmon. UrbnSurf operates wave parks in both Melbourne and Sydney, demonstrating their commitment to creating exceptional surf experiences.
Surf Farm's Broader Vision
Beyond surfing, Surf Farm aims to integrate food and beverage offerings, retail spaces, and community gathering areas to create a vibrant, year-round leisure destination. The development will also feature premium spectator areas and event programming.
The facility is expected to play a significant role in promoting health and wellness, while driving regional tourism, employment, and community engagement.
Wavegarden, known for its engineered wave systems, operates globally with installations in over 12 locations. Its technology is praised for reliability, energy efficiency, and its ability to generate diverse wave types.
Jos0e Odriozola, Founder and CEO of Wavegarden, expressed excitement about the project, stating, "The Wavegarden Cove 62 configuration will provide an exceptional breadth of wave settings, offering one of the most versatile surf experiences in the region."
With its 62-module configuration, Surf Farm will cater to surfers of all abilities, from beginners to elite athletes, providing a world-class environment.
Construction of Surf Farm is expected to begin later this year, with the project currently in the detailed design and pre-construction phases.
