Substantial Funding Boost for V Centre Program

Vasey RSL Care and Box Hill RSL Sub-Branch announced a joint initiative to support veterans facing homelessness in Melbourne, with Box Hill RSL committing $120,000 over three years to the V Centre Veteran Empowerment Program.

The V Centre, located in Ivanhoe, Victoria, launched in February 2024 as a pioneering programme providing safe housing and tailored support for veterans transitioning to civilian life. It aims to address the challenges veterans face, offering stability and independence. Box Hill RSL Sub-Branch’s substantial financial commitment builds on previous support, reinforcing their dedication to improving outcomes for vulnerable veterans. The V Centre Veteran Empowerment Programme is an industry-first, purpose-designed initiative combining accommodation with support services.

Vasey RSL Care Chief Executive Officer Janna Voloshin expressed gratitude, stating, “We are incredibly grateful to the Box Hill RSL Sub-Branch for their continued generosity and belief in the V Centre Veteran Empowerment Program. This significant contribution will directly support veterans who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness, helping them to rebuild their lives with dignity, stability and purpose.”

Collaborative Efforts for Veteran Support

The collaboration between Vasey RSL Care and Box Hill RSL Sub-Branch demonstrates a shared commitment to the welfare of the ex-service community. Box Hill RSL Sub-Branch President John Haward emphasised the importance of the program, saying, “Supporting veterans is at the heart of everything we do, and the V Centre Veteran Empowerment Programme is delivering real outcomes for those doing it tough. It provides veterans with a vital starting point on their path to independence.”

Vasey RSL Care is Australia’s leading provider of ex-service accommodation, care, and support, delivering veteran-specific services to around 1,000 ex-service people each year. With a workforce of more than 750 staff and volunteers, the organisation provides social housing for over 320 veterans, war widows, and partners across metropolitan and regional locations. Alongside the V Centre Veteran Empowerment Program, Vasey RSL Care offers home care services and residential aged care, demonstrating its comprehensive commitment to veteran welfare. This support network ensures veterans receive the assistance they need when they need it most.

The donation from Box Hill RSL Sub-Branch underscores the vital role RSL sub-branches play in giving back to the ex-service community. By partnering with Vasey RSL Care, they ensure that veterans receive essential support as they transition to civilian life.
