Enhancing Kangar’s Digital Infrastructure
TSplus has formed a strategic partnership with the Kangar Municipal Council and Aswant Group to improve smart city infrastructure in Malaysia. This collaboration represents a significant milestone for TSplus in Southeast Asia.
The project aims to implement TSplus’s Remote Access technology, supporting Kangar’s objective to achieve Level 1 certification under the Malaysia Smart City Framework by the end of 2026. As the first public reference of TSplus in Malaysia, this initiative sets the stage for a scalable model of digital transformation across the country’s 114 municipal councils.
Mohd Norfaizal Aizal Bin Abd Razak, CIO of Kangar Municipal Council, highlighted the strategic importance of this project, saying, “Smart City is a strategic goal for our team, from the Mayor to every engineer involved in the project.”
Technology Implementation and Benefits
The project, executed by Aswant Group, incorporates TSplus Remote Access with Centerm Enterprise thin clients and KasperskyOS cyber immunity technology to ensure secure remote access and robust cybersecurity resilience. It also includes TSplus Universal Printing and a dedicated RDP-generated connection client for simplified user access.

The new digital infrastructure allows for centralised administration and quick disaster recovery, enabling Kangar’s IT department to manage the system efficiently. Users can replace endpoints in just two minutes without affecting municipal data or services, which significantly reduces hardware costs and maintenance efforts.
Implementation was completed in less than one week, demonstrating the efficiency and effectiveness of the deployment. This successful deployment positions Kangar Municipal Council as a reference model for other municipalities seeking to implement smart city solutions.
With additional opportunities already emerging in other Malaysian municipalities, such as Kulim in 2026, the partnership highlights the growing demand for lightweight, secure, and scalable remote access technologies across Southeast Asia.
