Family dinosaur show opens in Melbourne on 30 December 2026
Dinosaur World Live will return to Australia for a summer tour from December 2026 to January 2027, opening in Melbourne on 30 December 2026.
Tickets went on sale at 10am on 2 September 2026 through the show’s Australian website. Stops on the tour are Melbourne, Canberra, Wollongong, Sydney, Newcastle, Brisbane and Perth.
In Melbourne, the Olivier Award-winning family show will play the Comedy Theatre from 30 December 2026 to 3 January 2027. It then moves to The Round for performances on 5 January 2027 and 6 January 2027.
Canberra follows at Canberra Theatre Centre from 8 January 2027 to 10 January 2027. After that, the production heads to Wollongong from 12 January 2027 to 13 January 2027, Sydney from 15 January 2027 to 17 January 2027, Newcastle from 19 January 2027 to 20 January 2027, Brisbane from 22 January 2027 to 24 January 2027 and Perth from 28 January 2027 to 31 January 2027.
55-minute stage adventure for ages three and over
Explorer Miranda leads the story through a prehistoric adventure for children and families. Audiences meet a Tyrannosaurus Rex, Triceratops, Giraffatitan, Microraptor and Segnosaurus during the show.
Each performance runs for 55 minutes with no interval. The production is recommended for ages three and over.
Max Humphries created the puppetry for the stage show. According to the producer, the interactive format aims to fire young imaginations and introduce children to prehistoric creatures.
Australian producer Andrew Kay said the live format offered something families could not get from a screen. “Dinosaurs have this extraordinary ability to capture children’s imaginations, and there is something pretty special about watching their faces when these incredible creatures come to life right in front of them,” Kay said.
Before returning to Australia, Dinosaur World Live toured the UK, the USA, Canada and China. Kay described the production as “wonderfully clever theatre” and praised its puppetry.
The Australian run is timed for the summer school holidays. Meanwhile, Melbourne hosts the first dates before the tour moves interstate across January 2027.
