Weir had been acting CEO since 21 August
ESSSuper has appointed Moana Weir as its new chief executive, with board president Pam Rebecca announcing the decision on 22/10/2026.
Weir had been acting in the position since Robbie Campo departed on 21 August. Before that, she was ESSSuper’s Group Executive, Legal, Governance, Risk and Compliance.
Rebecca said Weir was a standout candidate from a highly competitive recruitment field. She said, “Moana’s skills, experience and leadership are exactly what we were looking for to take our organisation forward.”
Rebecca also said ESSSuper is on an ambitious transformation journey. She said Weir brings transformation experience from multiple roles, including financial services for members and technology companies.
Those experiences are vital to large-scale projects aimed at improving retirement outcomes for members, Rebecca said. She also said Weir oversaw a successful platform transition while acting as chief executive.
Platform transition involved external partners
The platform transition involved ESSSuper’s external administrator and that administrator’s technology provider, according to Rebecca.
ESSSuper said Weir brings organisational knowledge, leadership skills and stakeholder relationships from two decades in executive roles across the public and private sectors.
Rebecca said, “We are thrilled to continue to have Moana leading ESSSuper through the exciting period ahead.”
Weir said she is looking forward to leading an organisation dedicated to supporting a dignified and secure retirement for Victoria’s most critical workers into its next phase.
She said, “At ESSSuper, we have a special purpose to provide excellent retirement outcomes for our members who have dedicated their lives to providing essential services to our community, including police officers, firefighters, paramedics, teachers and support workers.”
ESSSuper members include police officers, firefighters, paramedics, teachers and support workers.
