150 NSW Schools Implement RRE Program

Family First National Director Lyle Shelton has reaffirmed the party’s commitment to removing gender fluid ideology from New South Wales schools if elected. This pledge follows the implementation of the Respectful Relationships Education (RRE) programme in 150 institutions. Concerns have been growing among some parents and communities about the influence of certain teachings in school curriculums.

Joshua Rowe from the Australian Christian Lobby released an analysis highlighting the program’s widespread presence across the state’s public schools. Shelton expressed concerns over the inclusion of LGBTQA+ themes, arguing that parents expect education to focus on core academic subjects.

Shelton stated, “Parents send their children to school to be educated in core subjects like Maths, Science and English, not to be indoctrinated into LGBTQA+ gender fluid ideology.”

RRE Programme Under Scrutiny

While the RRE programme aims to teach respect and safety, Shelton scrutinized it for allegedly introducing concepts of gender fluidity and self-definition to students as young as kindergarten. He argued these ideas challenge traditional views of family and biological realities.

According to Shelton, “Teaching children that intentional motherlessness and intentional fatherlessness is normal and ethical is indoctrinating children into accepting a breach of the human rights of the child.” He emphasised that such teachings undermine the family unit.

Family First plans to address these concerns by advocating for educational programmes that prioritise traditional family structures and core academic subjects. Shelton emphasised the crucial role of parents in children’s upbringing and criticised what he perceives as state overreach into family matters.

The party’s campaign focuses on restoring educational priorities and removing what Shelton describes as ‘social engineering’ from the school system. He mentioned that the upcoming March election will be pivotal in determining the potential for Family First to implement these changes, as they aim to influence educational policy at the state level.

Shelton further highlighted the importance of maintaining parental rights in education, asserting that “Parents have the primary responsibility for the upbringing of their children, not the state.” This stance is central to the party’s platform as they seek to rally support from concerned voters.
