Doubling Capacity for Logan Families

Reopening on 17th April 2026, The Family Place, a unique mission of The Salvation Army in Logan, has undergone a major redevelopment. Renovations have significantly increased its capacity, effectively doubling the number of families it can support.

Part of The Salvation Army’s Doorways programs, the Family Place offers a welcoming and safe environment for families. Access to essential services like parenting support and child development programmes is provided. Funded by the Vincent Fairfax Family Foundation, the redevelopment was designed with input from The Salvation Army to meet community needs.

Located at 35A North Rd, Woodridge, Queensland, the Family Place operates as a drop-in, play-based center. It serves as a soft entry point for parents, grandparents, and caregivers to access tailored services, focusing on child development and parenting support.

Significant design input from The Salvation Army transformed the centre into a more effective community space. New facilities align with local family needs, providing a more engaging and supportive environment.

Event Details and Distinguished Attendees

Scheduled for 17th April 2026, the official reopening event will start at 10:30 am, with arrivals from 10:15 am. Attendees include Cameron Dick, Member for Woodridge. Jim Chalmers, Treasurer and Federal Member for Rankin, is also expected, though his participation is not yet confirmed.

Rosemary Vilgan, Chair of the Vincent Fairfax Family Foundation, alongside Jenny Wheatley, the foundation’s Chief Executive Officer, will be present. Major Mark Everitt, Leader of The Salvation Army in Queensland, will attend, highlighting the redevelopment’s importance to the community.

Continuing to serve as a vital resource, The Family Place aims to offer support and services for Logan families. Expanded capacity will enhance service delivery, providing more families with the support they need.
