FPT's Role in Chugoku's Digital Transformation
FPT Corporation has finalised an agreement to deploy Microsoft 365 licenses for Chugoku Electric Power Group, a leading power utility in Japan. Ranked sixth by electricity sales, Chugoku is one of Japan’s top ten regional power utilities.
This agreement builds on FPT’s established collaboration with Chugoku Electric and its IT subsidiary, ENECOM, to enhance cloud services and system modernization. These efforts support the group’s broader digital initiatives.
Microsoft 365 will be rolled out across Chugoku’s parent company and multiple subsidiaries. It integrates tools such as Outlook and Teams, aimed at boosting communication and operational efficiency.
Do Van Khac, FPT Software SEVP and FPT Japan CEO, stated, “This agreement reflects our commitment to driving innovation and modernization for Chugoku Electric Power Group.”
Impact on Chugoku’s Operations
Application development and robotic process automation will benefit from the deployment of Microsoft 365, which supports Chugoku’s transition to a digital-first model.
Makoto Ayukawa, Head of DX Promotion Project at Chugoku Electric Power Group, highlighted that the collaboration with FPT has facilitated the planned deployment of Microsoft 365, boosting daily operations and communication.
The project, which began with a pilot launch in late 2024, has expanded rapidly. In July 2025, FPT established an Offshore Development Centre in Da Nang, Vietnam, to support ongoing and future digital transformation projects.
This initiative is part of a larger strategy to explore future AI and automation applications. FPT leverages its technical expertise and global resources to achieve these goals.
Makoto Ayukawa added, “Through our collaboration with FPT, we have been able to deploy Microsoft 365 in a planned manner, contributing to improved communication and collaboration, as well as the expanded use of digital tools in daily operations.”
Prior to this agreement, FPT had been delivering a range of Microsoft-related services to Chugoku, including the rollout of new solutions, helpdesk operations, and system configuration. The collaboration has allowed FPT to contribute expertise in cloud services, application development, and system modernization, advancing the Group’s digital initiatives. As the M365 licenses are deployed, the platform’s integration of communication tools and capabilities like robotic process automation will enhance operational efficiency. This will support the Group’s shift towards a more agile, digital-first operating model.
“This initiative also serves as part of the foundation for considering future applications of AI and automation,” Ayukawa stated. “We recognise FPT’s technical expertise in the Microsoft domain, their understanding of our operational environment, and their delivery structure utilising global resources. As we move forward, we intend to continue working with FPT to steadily promote effective digital transformation.”
