Showcasing Indigenous Football Talent
John Moriarty Football is set to host its inaugural JMF National Talent Showcase on Saturday, 30th May at Valentine Sports Park in Glenwood, Sydney. The event will begin at 4.30pm and conclude at 9.30pm.
This showcase will feature 26 talented Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander footballers aged 12 to 16. These young athletes will have the chance to display their skills for the professional football community and potentially launch their careers in football.
Among the talented players, Allira Toby will be present as a JMF Ambassador. Toby, a former A-League player, represents the Kanolu/Gangulu community and brings valuable experience to the event.
Jen Wicks, the JMF Programme Manager and former Chelsea FC Academy Director, will oversee the young footballers during the showcase. She has extensive experience in youth development and will provide guidance to the participants.
The event offers a unique opportunity for media to film b-roll and take photographs, capturing warm-ups, drills, and match footage. This provides a rare glimpse into the talent of these young players.
Notable Attendees and Interviews
Attendees include Jada Whyman, a prominent goalkeeper, and Shadeene Evans, a rising star in the football world. Mitch McKasky from Sydney FC, Tom Sermanni of Western Sydney Wanderers FC, and Robbie Thomson, a Paramount+ Football Commentator, are also expected to attend.
