Chvaletice Project Advances with New Approvals
Euro Manganese has secured three critical permits for its Chvaletice Manganese Project in the Czech Republic, significantly advancing Europe’s only near-term source of high-purity manganese essential for electric vehicle batteries.
The permits, obtained between March and May 2026, include a Construction Permit for infrastructure relocation, a Land Planning Permit for the processing plant, and a Construction Permit for a technological bridge connecting the tailings area to the processing facility.
Euro Manganese, listed on both ASX and TSX-V, is focused on reprocessing historic mine waste to produce high-purity electrolytic manganese metal and manganese sulphate for batteries, avoiding new mining activities.
According to Martina Blahova, President and CEO of Euro Manganese, “Securing these permits marks a major milestone for the Chvaletice Manganese Project and underscores the meaningful progress we continue to make across the permitting landscape.”
European Supply Chain Importance
The Chvaletice Manganese Project is critical for Europe’s strategic supply chain needs, addressing both the rising demand for battery materials and defence applications. By reprocessing existing mine tailings, the project establishes a low-carbon, traceable supply chain within the EU.
Blahova further commented, “The permitting achievements to date significantly de-risk the Project by advancing key approvals and providing a clear, and confident pathway to execution.”
Euro Manganese plans to release an updated feasibility study in 2027, which will further refine the project’s investment potential. This progression positions the company to become Europe’s first domestic producer of battery-grade manganese.
With these developments, Euro Manganese is poised to play a vital role in meeting Europe’s clean-energy and supply-chain independence goals, with significant implications for both the EV and energy storage sectors.
Milestones and Future Prospects
Euro Manganese has achieved several key milestones. In January 2025, they secured the mining lease determination, and in March 2024, the Environmental and Social Impact Assessment was approved. These accomplishments build a strong regulatory foundation for the project.
As Euro Manganese continues through the permitting process, the Chvaletice Project is set to become a cornerstone in the European supply of high-purity manganese, crucial for the burgeoning electric vehicle market and energy storage solutions. The company’s commitment to collaboration with local and governmental authorities ensures responsible development.
