AI Innovation and Governance Drive Success

Recognised as a leader in the 2026 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Document Management, Laserfiche has achieved this position for the second consecutive year. The company’s strengths in AI-powered content management were highlighted on May 5th.

The leadership status is attributed to Laserfiche’s completeness of vision and ability to execute. Significant advancements in AI capabilities were announced at its annual Empower conference.

During the same week as the Empower conference, Thomas Phelps, Senior Vice President of Corporate Strategy and Chief Information Officer at Laserfiche, stated, “It’s incredible to see Laserfiche recognised, where we announced our latest agentic AI capabilities.”

Governance and Innovation in AI

To meet modern IT demands, the company continues to enhance its product offerings by turning unstructured content into valuable enterprise assets. Features include advanced AI-enabled data extraction, Smart Fields, and improved metadata experiences.

Expanding AI Agents functionality is part of the company’s roadmap, which involves embedding agentic tasks directly into workflows. New security advancements are set to be introduced by Q3 2026, aiming to support highly regulated industries like government and financial services.

“Laserfiche has been a collaborative partner in our digital evolution,” shared Bianca Lochner, Chief Information Officer for the City of Scottsdale. “They provided a secure framework to transform complex data into better citizen services.”

Organisations face challenges in harnessing unstructured data with AI while ensuring robust governance as the document management market evolves. Laserfiche’s approach effectively addresses these challenges, reinforcing its leadership in the industry.

Gartner pointed out a key challenge for organisations: using AI to harness unstructured data while mitigating risks with robust control and governance. Laserfiche focuses on rigorous information governance, security, and compliance standards to meet the demands of industries such as government, financial services, and manufacturing.

The platform now features advanced AI-enabled data extraction via Smart Fields, a Smart Chat AI assistant, and enhanced data lookups. These tools optimise content, making it structured, accessible, and ready for AI consumption.

Desiree Champaco, VP of Information Technology and Supply Chain at Diamond of California, remarked, “Laserfiche has served as the backbone of our finance operations for years, delivering the stability and granular governance we require for our critical documentation.”
