Tasmanians to Nominate and Vote for Organisations
Marking its 25th anniversary, the MyState Foundation launches a $25,000 Community Choice Award to aid youth-focused organisations in Tasmania. Tasmanians are invited to nominate and vote for not-for-profit groups making a positive impact in their communities.
In addition to the foundation’s annual grant programme, which has distributed nearly $3 million to Tasmanian community organisations over the past quarter-century, this new award invites local residents to participate directly in the decision-making process.
Opening today, 28th May, nominations for the Community Choice Award will be accepted until 11th June. Once this period ends, a shortlist will be announced for public voting. The winning organisation will receive a one-off grant of $25,000, with the results revealed on 1st July 2026.
Commitment to Young Tasmanians
Brett Morgan, CEO of MyState, emphasised the foundation’s dedication to fostering positive outcomes for young Tasmanians. “For 25 years, the MyState Foundation has been our primary way of giving back to the communities we operate in by investing in better outcomes for young Tasmanians,” he said.
According to Bob Gordon, Chair of the MyState Foundation, community involvement is crucial in the foundation’s efforts. “Since 2001, the MyState Foundation has partnered with community organisations to help young Tasmanians build confidence, skills, and provide opportunities,” he stated.

Key dates for the award process include the nomination opening on 28th May, the start of public voting on 22nd June, and the official announcement of the winner on 1st July 2026.
Established in 2001, the MyState Foundation focuses exclusively on improving opportunities for young Tasmanians. It supports initiatives that strengthen education, wellbeing, and social outcomes.
