Support Dementia Awareness in Sydney

Excitement builds as the 2026 Sydney Memory Walk & Jog approaches, with over 1,230 participants already signed up for the event on 24th May. This initiative aims to raise substantial awareness and funds for dementia support across Australia.

Registration remains open online, and participants can also register on the day. Individuals and teams can participate in memory of or in support of loved ones affected by dementia.

Dementia Australia CEO Professor Tanya Buchanan expressed gratitude for the community’s involvement. She stated, “We are thrilled to be back in Sydney on Sunday 24th May for the 2026 Memory Walk & Jog. It is inspiring to see the Sydney community come together to support the 446,500 Australians living with dementia,” said Professor Buchanan.

Event Details and Participation

Sydney’s Memory Walk & Jog is just one of 14 events scheduled to occur across Australia in 2026. People of all fitness levels are invited to walk, jog, or run. This initiative not only raises funds but also promotes brain health and fosters community connections.

Interested participants can register by visiting the official event website. Those unable to attend in person are encouraged to organize their own MyWay event, choosing a preferred date and location to walk or jog, thereby further supporting the cause.

According to Dementia Australia, more than 446,500 Australians live with dementia, and over 1.7 million people are involved in their care. The organisation is committed to providing trusted information, education, and services to those affected.

Advocating for positive changes, Dementia Australia also supports vital research to enhance the lives of people impacted by dementia. The National Dementia Helpline, funded by the Australian Government, offers support and information at 1800 100 500.

Those interested in supporting the cause can register for the Memory Walk & Jog or volunteer by visiting https://www.memorywalk.com.au/event/sydney. More information is available at dementia.org.au.
