Real Estate Industry Supports Global Cause

The Walk to AREC has raised over $100,000 for Destiny Rescue in its first three years. This annual event takes place on the Gold Coast ahead of the Australasian Real Estate Conference and involves a 25-kilometre walk from Surfers Paradise to Burleigh Heads and back.

Jonny Bell and Jonathan Rostron of Wingman Group founded the event in 2024. It engages real estate professionals who are committed to supporting Destiny Rescue’s mission to combat child exploitation and human trafficking.

Destiny Rescue, founded on the Sunshine Coast in 2001, has rescued more than 26,000 survivors from exploitation globally. The organisation operates in five regions, including the Philippines, which is a primary area of focus.

The Walk to AREC not only raises funds but also increases awareness about the pressing issue of child trafficking. During the 2026 walk, participants joined just before AREC’s 28th annual conference, emphasising the commitment of the real estate industry to make a difference.

An Industry United

Nick Georges, Head of Growth at Wingman, expressed pride in the initiative, stating, “We’re incredibly proud of what Walk to AREC has become and the impact it’s creating. Many of Wingman’s remote professionals are based in the Philippines, making this a cause that is close to our hearts.”

Organisers aim to expand the event further, hoping to increase agency participation and raise additional funds to protect vulnerable children. Jonathan Rostron, CEO of Wingman Group, highlighted the importance of continued support, saying, “Next year, we hope to see more agencies involved, more funds raised, and even more children in the Philippines given the opportunity to grow up safe and free.”

Every dollar raised by the Walk to AREC goes directly to Destiny Rescue. The funds provide essential support for children in need, particularly in the Philippines, where many of Wingman Group’s remote professionals are based, creating a direct and meaningful connection.
