Embodied Healing Through Belly dance

Sunday 26 April 2026 3:00pm – 4:00pm
BIGBANG studio Northcote
Join us for a transformative Belly Dance & Rhythmic Healing Workshop that blends movement, mindfulness, and emotional well-being.

You’re invited into an hour of Belly Dancing & Rhythmic Healing space rooted in SWANA cultural movement traditions, guided by listening to the music, moving together, and reconnecting with the body as a source of wisdom.

Rather than choreography or teacher-led performance, this space centres personal experience, collective rhythm, and nervous-system regulation. Movement is responsive, intuitive, and adaptable. It meets you exactly where you are on the day.

Belly dance here is offered as a tool for trauma release, emotional expression, and embodied self-trust, not something to perfect or perform.

Twice a month, a community dance space

This is not a class.
This is not a performance.
This is a shared, embodied practice.

What is this space about?

Feeling the music rather than memorising steps, moving with others rather than being watched, releasing stored tension and emotion through gentle, and rhythmic movement.

*No prior dance experience is needed.
*No flexibility, fitness, or “dance body” required.

What to expect?

Intuitive, guided movement inspired by belly dance traditions

Music-led exploration, letting rhythm lead the body

Trauma-aware facilitation with choice, consent, and adjustment

Emotional and physical release in a non-judgmental space

A small, supportive community moving together

You are always welcome to rest, modify, observe, or move in your own way.

Session flow

Arrival & grounding, settling into the body and setting intention.

Emotional release including anger, grief, overwhelming or sadness.

Guided embodied movement, exploring belly dance fundamentals through feeling, not form.

Collective dance, shared rhythm, connection, and playful exploration.

Integration & cool-down, gentle grounding and nervous-system regulation.

Who this is for?

This is a safer, inclusive space, guided with care and respect for lived experience.
