Focus on AI and Infrastructure Growth

Kazuhiko Nakayama has been appointed as the new President and Chief Executive Officer of NTT DATA Group, effective from 12th June 2026, as confirmed by the company’s Board of Directors.

Previously serving as the Chief Financial Officer, Nakayama succeeds Yutaka Sasaki, who will transition to the role of Senior Executive Vice President of NTT, Inc. starting 18th June. This leadership change comes as NTT DATA Group aims to enhance its competitive edge and accelerate AI-centred growth strategies.

The company's expansion strategy will concentrate on AI-empowered productivity and next-generation infrastructure, with a particular emphasis on Operational AI and Physical AI. Nakayama's leadership is expected to drive these initiatives across the 70+ countries where NTT DATA operates.

Nakayama's Career and Vision

Nakayama began his career with NTT in 1989 and has held significant roles within NTT DOCOMO, NTT EAST, and NTT Communications. He was appointed CFO of NTT DATA Group in 2023 and holds an MBA from Harvard University and a bachelor's degree in economics from The University of Tokyo.

In a statement, Nakayama said, “Over the past three years I have had the honour of working closely with Mr Sasaki and the leadership team on a strategic course that has established NTT DATA among the top five IT services businesses globally.”

Yutaka Sasaki, commenting on the transition, noted, “The appointment of Mr Nakayama as President and Chief Executive Officer follows a thoughtful and carefully planned succession process.”

NTT DATA Group will focus on two key areas alongside its core business operations: AI‑empowered New Value & Productivity and Next‑Generation Infrastructure. It aims to lead in Operational AI and Physical AI, supporting transformation and application in physical spaces.

Further details about NTT DATA Group's new executive leadership team are available on their official website. The company continues to serve 75 per cent of the Fortune Global 100, reinforcing its position as a leader in AI and digital infrastructure.

Nakayama's vision includes strengthening the competitive advantages of the $30+ billion business while accelerating its AI-centred growth strategy across the 70+ countries and regions in which it operates.
