Loanright's Legacy Lunch Initiative

Loanright Financial Services, based in Mooloolaba on the Sunshine Coast, has been recognised at a national level for its efforts in raising funds to rescue 35 children from sexual exploitation. On April 12th, the company was awarded the Best Community Engagement Programme at the 2026 Advisor Magazine Better Business Awards.

The recognition was given for Loanright's 'Legacy Lunch' initiative, which was spearheaded by Luke Meisenhelter and Brett Nicholas. This initiative started as a local event celebrating women in business and has grown into a significant fundraising effort. It supports Destiny Rescue, an anti-trafficking organisation founded on the Sunshine Coast.

Events held in 2024 and 2025 under the Legacy Lunch initiative successfully raised over $74,000. These funds were vital in rescuing 35 children from exploitation. Platinum Sponsor Billy J and other Sunshine Coast businesses provided strong support.

Destiny Rescue, launched on the Sunshine Coast in 2001, is dedicated to rescuing children from sexual exploitation and human trafficking. They work internationally, conducting rescue operations and collaborating with local authorities.

Matt Whittaker from Destiny Rescue highlighted the role local communities play in tackling global issues. He remarked, “The atmosphere in the room during these events is unmistakable. It’s far more than an event; it’s a community choosing to stand up and take action.”

Luke Meisenhelter expressed pride in the collective efforts of everyone involved. “We are beyond proud of what we have achieved for such an important cause like Destiny Rescue,” he stated.

Meanwhile, Brett Nicholas outlined future goals: “Our goal in the future will be to increase engagement, raise additional funds, and support the rescue of more children from exploitation.”

The Legacy Lunch initiative continues to grow, with plans for expansion following the award win. The next event is scheduled for later this year, aiming to engage more supporters. For those interested in supporting the cause, more information is available at www.destinyrescue.org.

The initiative’s success exemplifies how local businesses can have a meaningful impact on global issues. Community-driven efforts like this provide long-term freedom and restoration for vulnerable children. Loanright Financial Services’ dedication is a testament to the power of collective action.
