Will host the 14th Tibetan Unity Cup from 9 to 12 April 2026. This event honors the 90th birthday of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama and is dedicated to the ‘Year of Compassion’. The Tibetan Community of Newcastle organizes the Unity Cup to provide a vibrant space for Tibetan youth to celebrate their identity and build lasting friendships. This initiative underscores preserving Tibetan culture and empowers diaspora communities across Australia to keep their rich heritage alive.

Since its establishment in 2009, the Tibetan Unity Cup has become the foremost sporting platform for Tibetan youth in Australia. Over 160 athletes and participants aged 16 to 35 will gather from New South Wales, Queensland, Victoria, and the ACT, joined by hundreds of supporters from the broader community.

“The Tibetan Unity Cup is more than a tournament; it is a vital space for our youth to reconnect with their identity and build lasting bonds,” expressed Mr Lungtok, President of the Tibetan Community of Newcastle. “By celebrating the values of compassion and resilience, we are empowering the next generation to carry forward a heritage of peace while actively engaging with the vibrant Australian society we call home.”
