AI Transforms Vehicle Navigation Experience

HERE Technologies and KOTEI have unveiled a strategic partnership at Auto China 2026 in Beijing on April 25. They announced plans to co-develop AI-native navigation and automotive software solutions, focusing on the evolution of the software-defined vehicle (SDV) era. The collaboration aims to deliver smarter and more connected automotive experiences globally.

This partnership redefines in-vehicle navigation by merging HERE’s industry-leading live map technology with KOTEI’s advanced AI-driven software. Their goal is to enhance mobility solutions worldwide, offering more intuitive and efficient driving experiences.

Utilizing AI, KOTEI is embedding it into navigation systems to create a decision-driven experience. This system not only interprets driver intent but also adapts in real-time using HERE’s comprehensive point of interest database, covering over 200 countries and territories. The integration focuses on predictive navigation capabilities that anticipate driver needs.

Innovative Smart Cockpits and More

The collaboration extends beyond navigation enhancements. It innovates in areas like smart cockpits, intelligent driving systems, and advanced autonomous components. AI integration facilitates a tailored cockpit experience, surpassing the traditional one-size-fits-all model.

Combining HERE’s real-time location intelligence with KOTEI’s expertise in automotive system architecture, the partnership aims to accelerate the development of AI-augmented vehicle platforms. Already in production deployment, this collaboration demonstrates scalability and impact in the automotive industry.

KOTEI has successfully leveraged the HERE SDK to implement advanced navigation solutions across a leading Chinese automaker’s vehicle lineup. This showcases the efficiency and scalability of their joint technology, which is set to redefine global automotive experiences.

The strategic partnership also targets co-innovation across multiple layers of the SDV ecosystem. These include central computing platforms, vehicle operating systems, and middleware frameworks. By integrating HERE’s real-time location intelligence with KOTEI’s automotive system architecture, the collaboration aims to expedite the development of globally scalable, cloud-connected vehicle platforms.

Vanessa Lee from HERE Technologies stated, “The partnership with KOTEI sets a new industry benchmark for AI-native navigation systems.” These systems continuously learn, update, and adapt to real-world driving conditions and driver habits, offering a proactive and context-aware journey for drivers.
